Product description: Curcuma Xanthorrhiza has been widely used in Indonesia as a herbal drug and for food since time immemorial. The rhizome of this plant is an important ingredient in the preparation of Jamu (Indonesian traditional medicine). C. Xanthorrhiza is traditionally used to treat a variety of conditions such as lack of appetite, gastrointestinal upset, various liver diseases, constipation, bloody diarrhea, dysentery, arthritis, childhood fever, hypotriglyceridemia, hemorrhoids, candidiasis, rheumatism, and skin rashes. To date, over 40 active Curcuma Xanthorrhiza compounds have been isolated and identified, this includes Xanthorrhiza Roxb, terpenoids, curcuminoids and other phenolic compounds. Several pharmacological tests have shown that the plant has antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antineoplastic and antineoplastic, antidiabetic, skin care and hepatoprotective properties. It is exported to and used in Europe since at least 1963, especially for the treatment of dyspepsia, infections and diseases of the skin and liver. Curcuma Xanthorrhiza extract and its essential oils have been proven to have the potential to inhibit or kill pathogenic microbes whose activity level is ranging from moderate to strong killing ability. The antimicrobial ability of Javan Turmeric is related to the content of phenolic compounds in it, in particular xantorrisol and curcuminoids as the main ingredient. Klebsiella pneumoniae bacteria, which is the cause of pneumonia, is completely destroyed at 4x MIC for 15 minutes in a rhizome extract! Antioxidant Activity - Free radical reactions can cause dangerous degenerative diseases, including degenerative eye disease, senile dementia, asthma, diabetes, atherosclerosis, cancer, and inflammatory joint disease. Antioxidants are compounds that exhibit a synergistic action of catching free radicals by inhibiting the oxidation reaction. Anticancer and Antitumor Properties - An antitumor property test of certain compounds (β-atlantone, α-curcumin, arthurmerone and xantorrisol from the extract of the Javan Turmeric rhizome) was performed on sarcoma ascites. Three compounds (α-curcumin, arthurmerone and xantorrisol) from this study showed significant antitumor activity, this was assessed by the packed cell volume method. The antimetastatic and antitumor potential of xantorrisol was additionally assessed in vivo using samples of lung metastases and a test for the development of tumor cells. Surprisingly, xantorrisol significantly suppressed the formation of tumors in the lung tissue and the development of intra-abdominal tumor masses. This result is supported by molecular analysis showing that xanthorrisole can inhibit the expression of COX-2, phosphorylated signal-regulated extracellular kinase (ERK), and matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9). A further evaluation of isolated xanthorrisole from the roots of Javanese turmeric as an agent against cancer cell proliferation was carried out in combination with curcumin in MDA-MB-231 (human breast cancer cells). The experiment proved that the use of xantorrisol and curcumin synergistically inhibits the growth of MDA-MB-231 cells through the activation of apoptosis. During clinical trials convincing evidences have been obtained that prove the effectiveness of using Javanese turmeric products for the treatment of oncological diseases.
